Mixed blossom & Butterfly tier wedding cake

Created for a bride who has an issue with gluten. She needed something she could share with her friends, family and new husband. So we designed this 4 tier (Base tier is actually double stacked), beautiful wedding cake, which ticked all the boxes and catered for most allergies, meaning no one had to miss out.

Flavour combination

  • Base 2 tiers – Chocolate cake with raspberry compote
  • Middle + Top tiers – Madagascan vanilla cake with Vanilla Lemon curd
  • Vanilla buttercream was used for icing  & decoration

Creating a cake for someone’s wedding puts a lot of pressure on us; Everything has to be perfect. The design has to be perfect as the bride & groom wanted, flavour has to be spot on to cater a large number of various guests and the last, it is all about the structure, no matter how perfect and delicious the cake is, if that does not stand as it should, we are in big trouble!

Creating a tiered cake is not as simple as stacking cakes on top of each layer. There is a lot of frame work (dowels and boards) placed between each layer so the cake will stand “as is” until it is cut up and served.
We were very pleased to hear back from the bride that the cake survived delivery and serving and was loved by the guests, including people who do not have any allergy or dietary issues.
